Make sure your presentation has a goal.

Football without goals? Dead boring.
Ever wonder why people love football so much? Easy: they want goals. For 90 minutes they wait for that moment. No goals? Then it’s just a lot of pointless running.

What you can learn from that:
A presentation without a goal is just as frustrating. How often have you sat through a talk thinking, 8 minutes in: “Why am I here?” No perspective, no promise, no reason to keep listening.

Hack tip:

  • Start with your endpoint. How to fix. See the cliffhanger hack.
  • Tell your audience, right from the start, where you’re taking them.
  • What will they learn? What insight will they gain?
  • Spark their curiosity. It sharpens their ears and their focus.

Keep it short and sharp:

  • Cut anything that doesn’t serve your goal
  • Ideally: stick to 20 minutes max
  • Shorter is the new better

Let it echo after you’re done:

End with a sharp, provocative question. Want people to keep talking about your story?
Put that question on your final slidet keeps the topic alive, and gives you the perfect opening for your next presentation
